What's the difference between PE and PVC tarpaulins?

What does tensile strength mean?

Accepted Answer

Tensile strength refers to how much force a material can withstand before it breaks when being stretched. For our PE, PVC, and polyester tarpaulins, this is an important measure of durability and resistance to tearing.

Each material is tested by the independent institute Hansecontrol using a standard stretch test. This determines how much pulling force is required to tear the fabric. The higher the tensile strength, the more robust and damage-resistant the material is—allowing you to compare the quality of different products with confidence.

Can you send me a sample piece of tarpaulin?

We're happy to send you samples of PE or PVC material. For pop up gazebos, we can also provide colour samples. Simply write an e-mail to service@alltents.ie and state the article number of the tent you're interested in. Please also state your delivery address, e-mail address and telephone number. Do you provide printing onto gazebo tarpaulins?

We don't provide gazebo printing ourselves. You can order this from a specialised printer once you have received the product.

Question 5

Why are mould stains developing on my tent tarpaulin?

Accepted Answer

The development of mould stains can't be explained in a uniform way. However, the prerequisites for the formation of mould are commonly cited as follows:

high ambient humidity or room humidity (at least 55% relative humidity, usually well above 65%)
low air circulation (almost always present when mould stains occur)
Possibly certain types of mould, but these could also just be a side effect - this hasn't yet been clarified with certainty.

You can prevent mould stains by:

airing your tent regularly
regularly removing any moisture (e.g. condensation).

Why does condensation build up in my tent?

Unfortunately, it's not possible to completely avoid the build up of condensation in tents. Condensation is caused by a number of factors, including moisture released from the ground, from people, and from the air itself. As air cools, it holds less water, causing droplets to form on the tent surface and tent poles.

Can I buy extra roof supports for my marquee?

The roof supports of the PRO Plus and PRO Ultra models are not compatible with the roof frame of a PRO Smart tent.

Question 8

Can I use cable ties instead of bungees for installing a marquee tarpaulin?

Accepted Answer

We advise you not to use cable ties instead of bungees. Cable ties lack the necessary flex that our bungees offer. The use of cable ties can lead to tearing of the tarpaulin and / or the eyelets, which would not be covered by the warranty.
